The Reader - I don't recall if I've watched this movie already but I know I definitely read the novel way back when Oprah picked it for her book club all those many years ago. (Whatever, I was young and impressionable.) Depressing and not at all sexy even with Kate Winslet's naked love scenes.

Pompeii - So dumb! Yet another reason why TV/cable is now able to do things so much better than the movies. Elysium (2013) - Jodie Foster is really better suited as a villain. This is also the second movie in a row where Sharlto Copley is playing a psycho villain, which also works for him tbh. Plot's kinda weak and Matt Damon is boring in this one.

1) Brought my health forms and proof of US citizenship to school. Since going to Downstate is literally a 20-minute bus ride, it's easier to bring things over myself and make sure somebody received and logged them rather than sending it by the USPS. What a dull movie. Not even the wire-fu fight between Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz could save this stinker. Also, does James Franco actually act anymore? It seemed like they just dressed him up in a costume and told him to act a little less douchier than usual. Mind you, still douchey, just a degree or so less.

I rewatched The Hunger Games before going to see Catching Fire (in addition to re-reading the CF novel) this weekend. I like that the movies stay close to the books, and how the scenes that that are original to the movie only make the build-up to Mockingjay much more interesting ( Read more... )
